1. Scope

This policy applies to Road Friend, a dashcam app that records video and audio through the device camera and stores recordings locally on the user’s device.

2. Permissions and data

• Camera: to record video after you start recording.
• Microphone: to record audio accompanying video after you grant permission.
• Notifications: to show a clear ongoing recording notification with a stop action.

Permissions are requested when needed. You may deny or revoke them in Android settings, but recording cannot work without camera and microphone access.

3. Recordings, deletion, and sharing

Video, audio, recording time, and duration are stored locally on your device. The app does not upload recordings to the developer’s server or back them up to cloud storage.

You can play or delete recordings in the app. A video is shared only when you choose Share and select an app or recipient through Android’s system sharing screen.

4. Ads and subscriptions

• Google AdMob: provides banner and optional rewarded ads. Google may process advertising ID, device information, diagnostics, ad interactions, and IP-derived approximate location for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention under Google’s policies.
• Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): shows advertising consent and privacy choices where required.
• Google Play Billing: offers and processes the monthly subscription. Google Play handles payment; the developer does not receive payment-card data.

The subscription unlocks unlimited recording. Banner ads remain visible on all plans. A user may also choose to complete 20 rewarded ads to unlock recording for seven days.

5. Data the app does not collect

The app does not request or collect device location, trip routes, contacts, SMS, or WhatsApp data. It has no emergency button and no location-sharing feature.

6. Security and retention

Android’s general backup for private app data is disabled. Recordings remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app. No developer account is required.

7. Your choices

• Stop recording from the app or the ongoing notification.
• Revoke camera, microphone, or notification permissions in Android settings.
• Delete recordings, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
• Open advertising privacy choices where available.

8. Children and lawful use

The app is intended for adults and not for children. You are responsible for complying with local video and audio recording laws, including notifying passengers or obtaining consent when legally required.
